DNA Baser
is an easy to use software package providing DNA sequence assembly functions (simple and batch), contig editing functions and chromatogram viewer/editor.
It provides automated end trimming (clipping), so there is no need to trim manually the low quality bases from the ends of the trace files before contig assembly. This saves considerable time, especially when assembling many DNA sequences.
DNA Baser offers a smart navigation system that takes you to the location of each sequence ambiguity / mutation with only a single click.
Features:
- Automatic cleaning (trimming) of the bad ends of chromatograms, based on the Quality Values (QV).
- Synchronized display between chromatograms and contig.
- Proprietary algorithm for correction of the ambiguous bases.
- A rapid navigation between mismatches.
- Chromatogram viewer and editor (ABI and SCF).
- Project map.
- Automatically save the contig to disk.
- Automatic primer detection and vector removal.
- Fast assembly algorithm.
- Conversion between several file formats.
- Embedded reverse complement tool.

ChromasPro opens chromatogram files from Applied Biosystems.
It is a completely new program with these features:
- Open and save sequences in Applied Biosystems, Staden Chromatogram (SCF), FASTA, EMBL, GenBank, SwissProt, GenPept, GCG RSF and plain text formats.
- Assemble overlapping sequences into a consensus and automatically display ambiguities for editing.
- View Genescan genotype files.
- Generate restriction site and fragment maps, and list cutters, non-cutters and fragments.
- Map open reading frames, aided by a G+C frame plot, and translate ORFs instantly.
- Print chromatograms, restriction site and fragment maps, and open reading frame maps.
- Perform nucleotide and protein BLAST searches through the NCBI web site.
- Perform multiple alignments by interfacing with ClustalW.
- Reverse & complement sequences and chromatograms.
- Search for sequences by exact matching or optimal alignment.
- Display translations when editing nucleotide sequences.
- Perform reverse translations and plot nucleotide degeneracy.
- Plot hydrophilicity and antigenicity of proteins.
- Copy an image of a chromatogram section for pasting into documents or presentations.
