AVISO
A database holds vector graphics data and attribute data. Map contents is generated from database and can be further edited at will.
Supports choropleth and related aeral presentations; linear, point and label presentations, as well as pie and bar cartodiagrams. Range-based presentations can display one or two variables simultaneously. Diagrams can display unlimited number of variables.
Graphics style can be applied to whole layers, layer ranges or individual objects. Objects can be re-shaped and re-positioned, new objects can be added.
Maps from different sources can be overlayed or tiled, thanks to uniform geographical coordinates. Map projection is transparently applied "on the fly".
Raster image (e.g. scan) can be included and perfectly fit to vector contents.
Usage:
- Statistical, census, population and electional mapping
- Cartographic visualisation for environment research including geology, geomorphology, soils, botany, and other fields
- Business and economic data visualisation
- Decision support for spatial planning and zoning
- Topographic map production
Highlights:
- Effective digitizing tools, including simultaneous multiple layer editing, vector tracing and semi-automatic raster tracing.
- Intelligent handling of links between map and database. Users are allowed to modify map and data tables independently. Synchronization procedure updates map with new data without loosing manual changes.
- Raster images of unknown projections may be registered without raster transformation.
- Carbon copy layers clone other layer's contents with different graphics style. Sophisticated effects may be produced without object duplication and maintenance.
- Updateable dynamic SQL queries.
- Data import and export from/to MapInfo and ESRI systems.
