It appears that a ced file is created in the memory card in case it is not properly formatted. This usually means that your video will not be recorded, just some metadata about it will be saved. Usually a *.ced file has the size of few kb.
You need to format your SD card in order to record your videos to common formats, such as MTS or MOD.
Although *.ced files cannot be usually viewed using standard system, it seems that iMovie for Mac can recognize this format and import it to the program. But it may be that it also needs the *.mts or .mod recording for this.
Using iMovie for Mac user had some success with importing the *.ced files to the program and converting them to MP4 format. This may also require the original *.mts or *.mod track thought. However, we could not verify this piece of information.

EEGLAB is an open-source MATLAB toolbox developed by the Swartz Center for Computational Neuroscience at the University of California, San Diego. It is used to process continuous and event-related EEG, MEG and other electrophysiological data.
The ced file contains channel data from EEGLAB, including channel labels and electrode location information. It is supporting metadata rather than a complete recording of EEG signal samples, and can be used to display channel locations and topographical data.
EEGLAB runs with MATLAB on Windows, macOS and Linux. The CED format is used to import channel information into EEGLAB.
Open the ced file in EEGLAB by using its channel-location import function, available from the channel or electrode location tools. Select the file when EEGLAB prompts for a channel-location file.
The file is text-based and can also be viewed in a text editor, but EEGLAB is needed to interpret the channel information and apply it to an electrophysiological dataset. EEGLAB can be used on Windows, macOS and Linux through MATLAB.
A ced file normally does not need conversion. Import it into EEGLAB and use the channel-location tools to save or export the locations in another format supported by the toolbox.
Because the file contains channel metadata rather than recorded signal samples, converting it does not convert an EEG recording. The recording itself must be exported separately from the EEGLAB dataset.
