The cont file extension is mainly related to special metadata files generated when a video is recorded using Panasonic camcorders.
The cont file contains extra capabilities such as thumbnail, face detection and etc.
They are not important to captured video playback, but they can be used by Panasonic native video editing application for camcorders HD Writer to import other effects to a final video file.
These files are automatically loaded by Panasonic video editting programs, they cannot be accessed manually.
Probably cannot be converted to anything useful and there also seems to be no reason to do so.
