Software that can be used for for conversion of GenePattern GCT data files to Excel XLS format.
GenePattern data files (.gct) are saved in simple tab-delimited text format, which means that they can be opened in any text editor or spreadsheet programs. This means you can simply import these files to Microsoft Excel and save them as spreadsheets (.xls, .xlsx). Such gct to xls conversion will result in a file that contains just the data and no formatting.
Unfortunately, there is no detailed software record in the database for this conversion.

Files with xls extension are best known as spreadsheets from Microsoft Excel. A spreadsheet is basically a grid of cells sorted in rows and columns. Each cell can contain text, numeric or formula data. Excel XLS spreadsheets can be opened in most other similar programs, such as OpenOffice.org Calc.
