Unfortunately, without Vaulty program is not that easy for normal user to recover their .png or other files that were secured by the utility, i.e. what vdata to png conversion likely represents.

If you are certain that your .vdata file is a PNG image, there exists a workaround that can help you recover your images. This requires at least basic knowledge of HEX editors however, and should not be done by someone inexperienced.

  1. to be extra sure, make copy of your .vdata files so you do not lose data if something goes wrong
  2. install a HEX editor (google for it) and open your .vdata file
  3. look for "obscured" text inside the file when you open it with HEX editor and delete the word
  4. save the file and rename the extension from .vdata to .png

And your picture should be working again.

Unfortunately, there is no detailed software record in the database for this conversion.
