CHARMM (Chemistry at HARvard Macromolecular Mechanics) is molecular simulation software. Its dcd file extension identifies a trajectory containing coordinate data produced during a molecular dynamics simulation.
The file can contain many successive coordinate frames for the same molecular system. CHARMM uses these frames for trajectory analysis and related simulation workflows, together with the topology, parameter and coordinate files needed to interpret the molecular system.
