File extension edgel seems to be mainly related to a ransomware that first appeared in late December 2016 and was labeled as EdgeLocker.
Much like other ransomware, it encrypts users files and then demands ransom (0.1 BTC) for the decryption key.
Unfortunantely, we do not know about any decryptor for this particular ransomware yet.
