FA file extension - FASTA DNA data file
What is fa file? How to open fa files?
File type specification:
File extension fa is typically used for a special FASTA DNA format used in biochemistry.
A .fa file does not contains the chromatogram but only the sequence string (it is much more simple format).
The FASTA programs find regions of local or global (new) similarity between Protein or DNA sequences, either by searching Protein or DNA databases, or by identifying local duplications within a sequence.
Other programs provide information on the statistical significance of an alignment. Like BLAST, FASTA can be used to infer functional and evolutionary relationships between sequences as well as help identify members of gene families.

MultiFasta Builder is a one-click file converter the merges the specified sample files (ABI, SCF, FASTA, multiFASTA, GBK, multiGBK, SEQ, TXT) in a single multiFasta file. It can generate a standard multiFasta or custom multiFASTA file. Starting with version 3.0 protein FASTA files are also supported.
