FreeCAD is an open-source 3D modeling tool available for Microsoft Windows, macOS, Linux and other platforms. Its macros automate commands and repetitive operations in the application.
An fcmacro file is a plain-text Python script. It can contain commands recorded from actions in FreeCAD or commands written manually, and is used as part of FreeCAD's macro system.
Use FreeCAD to open and run an fcmacro file. In FreeCAD, use the macro tools to locate and execute the file, or open it in the macro editor to inspect or modify its Python commands.
Because the file is plain text, a text editor can also open it for viewing or editing, but FreeCAD is required to run the macro in the modeling application.
An fcmacro file is a script rather than a document format, so it normally has no meaningful conversion to another file format. Its commands can be edited as text and saved as another script file when appropriate.
If a macro creates or modifies a 3D model, open and run it in FreeCAD, then export the resulting model using FreeCAD's available document export options.
