FIGlet is a command-line program that converts ordinary text into large character artwork. An FLF file supplies the font data that FIGlet uses for this output.
An FLF file is a ZIP-compressed, "figletized" textual font containing representations of letters, numbers, punctuation marks and other glyphs. FIGlet reads these definitions when a font is selected and combines the character rows to produce the requested text.
FIGlet and its font files are used on Unix-like systems and Windows, among other platforms. The FLF format remains associated with FIGlet and is also supported by compatible implementations.
Use FIGlet to load an FLF file as a font when rendering text.
FLF files normally do not need conversion. To use the font with FIGlet, keep it in the program's font collection and select it when generating text.
FIGlet can render the font's output as ordinary text, which can then be saved in a suitable text-based format.
