Over the years, different releases of Trainz have had different titles: Trainz, Trainz Railroad Simulator, Trainz UTC, TRS2004, TRS2006, Trainz Classics, TS2009 and TS2010 (the latest release). All support files with the .im file extension which is used together with bitmap images to generate three dimensional models for use in the game.
The file extension PM (progressive mesh) was used for the same purpose in the same game but is now obsolete, although most if not all Trainz releases will still open it.
