WoW stores models as m2 files, which is a Word of Warcraft proprietary file format. It contains a lot of data such as bones, vertices, textures used, animations, game settings and more.
These m2 files are stored in compressed mpq files. The MPQ files of interest are common.mpq, expansion.mpq and patch-x.mpq in the WoW\data directory.
It is difficult to open the *.m2 files, because they are stored in the MPQ Warcraft game archive and it not exist official description of M2 file from developers. Fans develops a special utility, that is called the WoW Model Viewer. the WoW Model Viewer can open *.m2 files, but it is not effective in all cases.
WoW Model Viewer supports export of *.m2 files into another 3D graphic formats such as Lightwave 3D, Waveform OBJ file, Milkshape 3D, Autodesk 3DS file, X3D & X3D in XHTML, but export is not effective in all cases and some bugs can be see in converted file.

File extension m2 is used for an embroidery or stitching design format from one of the machines produced by the Japanese company Juki.
Contains instructions in specific format for Juki machines, but might have been used in some older models only.
Embird lists several of Juki formats as support.
