The mng (pronounced "ming") is a format for storing multiple bitmaps and animations and is a close cousin of the PNG format.
When storing images, Winfunktion Mathematic v8.0 allows both lossless compression similar to PNG, and lossy compression similar to JPEG.
When storing animations, MNG does not allow audio or video, but does include more sophisticated animation features than GIF, which help keep file size to a minimum.
While MNG is in principle an great file format, but there is a major problem with using MNG for web publishing - namely that most/many web browsers do not support it all, or only if special plug-ins (which most people won't have are installed).
