The ov1 file extension is associated with MS-DOS overlay files. When running in a 640K MS-DOS machine, all program code may not fit into available memory at the same time. To overcome this memory limitation, most large programs use overlays. An overlay is a portion of the program code that shares memory for its code with other code modules.
