CrossePAC is a multi-platform data compression utility that creates archive files (PAC files) consisting of
one or more source files. Archives created by CrossePAC are specifically designed for portability across a
wide range of hardware and software platforms. In order to improve portability and avoid possible
communications conflicts during file transfer, CrossePAC is able to build archives in any of three formats:
Text, ASCII, or Binary. In addition, each format can be written in either blocked (line oriented) or
unblocked (stream) mode. File and path names are normalized when stored so that they can be reconstructed
on a target system that differs from the originator.
Included in this User's Guide are instructions for using CrossePAC, some considerations for formatting and
transferring files, and some examples of command lines. Installation instructions are included in the material
sent with the software media. At a minimum, you should read the General Functions section of the User's
Guide. This will give you a quick start in using CrossePAC.
