Pop!site is an HTML macro-scripting tool that uses a language called pop!talk. A pt file can contain HTML together with custom tags that use the same syntax as HTML.
Pop!talk tags can include conditionals and other quasi-programming features. They can also encapsulate substantial amounts of HTML, text, or other media for repeated use in pages.
After a page design has been created, its HTML can be captured in one or more tags and reused throughout a site. The pt file format is obsolete.
A pt file can be opened as text in a plain-text editor to inspect its HTML and pop!talk source. A text editor will show the markup but will not process the macros or render the completed page.
To process the file as intended, use the original Pop!site software if it is available for the relevant platform. A current web browser cannot interpret the pop!talk portions directly.
The practical conversion method is to process the file with Pop!site and use the resulting HTML. If the software is unavailable, the HTML can be copied into a modern web project, but pop!talk tags, conditionals, and other macros must be rewritten manually.
