WAsP, developed by DTU Wind Energy, uses the RDS file to describe a site's roughness rose. The file contains sector-based roughness lengths and roughness changes, together with user-specified correction factors for wind speed and correction angles for wind direction for each sector.
The roughness description is site data used by WAsP during wind-flow and wind-resource calculations. It is an application-specific data file associated with WAsP 4.
Open the file in WAsP on Microsoft Windows. Use WAsP's project or site-data tools to load the roughness description so that its sector information can be used in the relevant calculations.
To change the roughness description, edit it in WAsP and save it in the format supported by the WAsP version being used.
