File extension sfw is mainly related to Seattle Film Works and used for its proprietary bitmap format. Mostly forgotten format.
Seattle Film Works was a mail order film processor which offered the option of having your photographs digitized. It was discontinued years ago and apparently is now part of Shutterfly.
Several graphics viewers or editors can open and work with SFW graphics.

The sfw file extension is also used by Sony Sound Forge, also known as Sonic Foundry Sound Forge, a professional digital audio editing suite by Sony Creative Software (now owned by MAGIX AG).
The sfw file contains Sound Forge audio project.
