The SLT file extension was also used by Telix for one of its file formats. Telix was a telecommunications program originally written for DOS by Colin Sampaleanu and released in 1986. More recent versions were distributed by deltaComm Development, including a version for Windows.
The DOS version was considered by some to be one of the most popular shareware programs of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Its strengths included having a fast built-in version of the Zmodem file transfer protocol, rather than needing a separate program, and a powerful scripting programming language similar to C, 'SALT' (Script Application Language for Telix).
The Windows version suffered from a variety of problems, including delays in publication (it was a complete rewrite by a new author in Turbo Pascal for Windows rather than the original's C), an unpopular attempt at copy protection; and the World Wide Web's impact on bulletin board systems also reduced demand.
Telix can be used to dial bulletin board systems or other phone-line based services. It supports ANSI emulation and various file transfer protocols.

The SLT file extension is used by ZX Spectrum emulator. The level loader trap has one annoying disadvantage; lots of extra files lying around for each game. The super level loader was developed by Damien Burke to replace this multi-file format with a single snapshot file containing all the level data files. It has been designed in co-operation with James McKay (x128), Gerton Lunter (Z80), Rui Ribeiro (WSpecEm) and Darren Salt (helping with Z80Em), and is quite widely supported.
