The snt files from Windows Vista are not compatible with Sticky Notes from Windows 7. However, you can use snt files from Windows 7 in later versions of Windows.
Rename the local system's StickyNotes.snt file and copy your StickyNotes.snt to same place.
This file is opened or created when you run Sticky Notes application in Windows. If file exists, program opens with user sticky notes. Notes are automaticaly saved. You can add Sticky Notes app to StartUp programs and open it automatically after Windows start.
Sticky Notes app is not able to save notes to other file format. However you can use copy-paste shortcut and copy text from the note to text files, e-mails other note apps, etc.
