The tol file extension is related to Zemax, an optical design program from Radiant Zemax.
A *.tol file contains tolerance data. These files contain the full list of operands and perturbation values (min and max) for a saved Tolerance Data editor. They can be used for example to define the same custom tolerances for different lens files.
