The ubox file extension is associated with Universe Sandbox, an interactive space simulator and astronomy application developed by Giant Army. A .ubox file contains the saved data for a Universe Sandbox simulation.
A .ubox file is a ZIP archive that uses the .ubox extension instead of the usual .zip extension. Its contents include XML data stored in plain-text format, but the archive structure and data are intended for use by Universe Sandbox.
Universe Sandbox uses these files to save and reopen simulations on Microsoft Windows. The format is an application-specific saved-data format rather than a general-purpose document format.
Open .ubox files with Universe Sandbox on Microsoft Windows. You can open the file from the application or associate the file extension with Universe Sandbox in Windows.
Although the file is a ZIP archive containing XML data, extracting or editing its contents directly is not a substitute for opening it in Universe Sandbox.
