Apple iOS 7 operating system added a new feature to iPhone, iPad, iPad mini and iPod Touch called Parallax Motion Wallpapers. It is a nice 3D parallax effect on your home screen and lock screen with icons and background wallpapers, created with motion sensors installed in iOS devices.
Supported devices:
- iPhone 4S, 5, 5S, 5C
- iPad 2, 3rd and 4th generation
- iPad mini
- iPod Touch 5th generation
The big advantage is that the Apple didn't create any special file format to add this effect to the wallpaper. You can use picture file formats supported by Apple iOS (JPG, PNG etc.) and only you need to have these pictures in recommended resolution:
- iPhone 4S: 1360 x 1040
- iPhone 5, 5S, 5C: 1536 x 1040
- iPod Touch: 1536 x 1040
- iPad 2: 1424 x 1424
- iPad Mini: 1424 x 1424
- iPad 3, 4 : 2,448 x 2,448
You can easily create your own parallax wallpapers with picture image editors for example from your digital photos, graphics files etc.
After you have your own parallax wallpaper prepared, download it to your device and select it as wallpaper from Photos app or from:
Settings → Wallpapers & Brightness → CHOOSE WALLPAPER

The disadvantage of the parallax motion is more battery drain of the iOS devices. However if you want to save battery life and or are bored with parallax motion, you can disable it:
Go to Settings → Accessibility → Reduce Motion and switch button to on.
