It looks like that Alibre Design Professional program (from which .ad_asm originate) supports both export and import of STEP product data files (.stp, .step), so ad_asm to step conversion can be achieved in it. Except for that, you would have to look for a 3D modeling tool or converter that supports Alibre formats in order to convert ad_asm to step.
