Character Studio biped files (.bip) are supported in 3ds Max and as such it should be possible to somehow convert BIP data and save them as or otherwise import to .3ds files. Maybe you can also do that in some other modeling programs, but unfortunately we do not know about any specifics for bip to 3ds conversion.
