There is no way how you could convert CRYPT5 archives to CRYPT6 format. However, the WhatsApp Tri-Crypt program can be run as background process and converted all newer CRYPT file types to the original legacy CRYPT format, which then can be easily extracted with one of the available tools like WhatApp Xtract. In any case crypt5 to crypt6 conversion is obsolete, because crypt12 is the current format.

Usually this happens when the conversion would try to convert different types of data between each other, such as audio to image, or it is not possible because incompatibility between programs, caused by closed file formats, very limited support etc.
