Converting Apple DMG disk images to IPSW firmware files. DMG to IPSW converters.
Apple distributes beta versions of iOS firmware in DMG disk images instead IPSW files. This can surprise quite a few Windows users, because they need IPSW files to upgrade their devices, and Windows does not register the DMG format.
Luckily, the solution is really simple and you do not need to convert anything. The IPSW file is found inside the DMG disk image, so you just need to extract it. This can be done in several programs for Windows, like for example the popular 7-zip file archiver.
Unfortunately, there is no detailed software record in the database for this conversion.

DMG
Files with dmg extension are almost always disk images for Mac OS X (macOS). Replaced previously used IMG format, but work pretty much the same as standard ISO images.
Files with dmg file extension can also be found as binary dumps created by Oracle programs. Should not be confused with the common Mac OS X (macOS) disk image that also shares the DMG extension.
IPSW
Files with ipsw extension can be found as firmware update files for iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. IPSW archive contains DSG Apple disk images with iOS system installation, updates and fixes that are installed to iOS device via iTunes.
