Both .gp and .gtp files seems to be old versions of Guitar Pro and as such gp to gtp conversion might be a little problematic now. It's usually possible to create the latest version of Guitar Pro formats, but making older versions is not possible. You would have to work with different version of the program and use some exchange format for import / export between them.
