Possible software with support for converting of gz files to img file format.
gz to img conversion is often needed, when a Linux program meant for a floppy disk (often .gz or .tgz) needs to be converted to .img (floppy disk image), so the data can be accessed even without physical floppy disk drive.
It seems that you can achieve this using the command line with something like this:
dd if=/path/to/input/file.gz of=/path/to/output/file.img
Unfortunately, there is no detailed software record in the database for this conversion.
