The only mpt to mpd conversion that makes sense, is using Microsoft Project templates (.mpt) for new project and export that to .mpd database format. But this was only doable in version 2007 or older and newer version of MS Project is unable to save to .mpd format. So if you for some reason still need this, you have to obtain old copy of Microsoft Project.
