Programs used to perform the conversion from pdf file to gp format.
pdf to gp conversion is probably related to the import of music sheets previously exported as PDF files to Guitar Pro. This is unfortunately not simple and Guitar pro does not offer direct import to PDF.
The only way how to achieve this, would be to use some OCR solution that can recover sheets from PDFs and save these in Music XML format. You can for example use the PlayScore sheet scanning app for Android/iOS for this.

A pdf file extension is mainly used for Adobe Portable document format, commonly referred to as PDF. All programs that create some sort of documents or projects offer the possibility to export their format to PDF format. A free PDF viewer (Adobe Reader) is available for download from Adobe website.
Rarely, files with pdf file extension might also be found as preferences definition files for ArcView program.

Files with gp extension might also be old projects for first versions of Guitar Pro program.
Files with gp extension can be most notably be found as source codes or scripts written in Gofer programming language that is based on Haskell language dialect.
