The only way to recover texts from various PageMaker documents and save them as separate text files, would be to use the original program. Notoriously, PageMaker documents and templates are not well supported in other programs, which pretty much limits the conversion options.
Just make sure you actually need to convert the template (.pt5) as they usually do not contain any valuable texts, just settings for newer documents.

It was later bought by Adobe and rebranded Adobe PageMaker. The last version Adobe PageMaker 7 was released in 2001 and in 2004 the product was discontinued and slowly replaced by Adobe InDesign.
