Several programs use shape files (.shp) for various geometrical or other vector graphics and these can often be printed. If you have a virtual PostScript printer installed it should be fairly easy to get an .eps file from your .shp, provided you have access to some software that can view (and print) that particular .shp file you need to convert.

Files with shp extension are also used by Autodesk programs like AutoCAD. These shape files contain geometric shapes for fonts. Should not be confused with ESRI shape files used in GIS software. Same extension, different format.
EPS
Files with eps extension are almost always images exported to the special Adobe Encapsulated PostScipt graphics file format.
