Everything points to the fact that conversion of 3D models saved in STEP product data files (mostly .stp, .step but sometimes .ste) to VRML format (.vrml, .wrl) is doable and can be done in several CAD/3D modeling programs as well as dedicated conversion software like CrossManager which should support ste to wrl conversion just fine.
