A dsd is abbreviation of Direct Stream Digital a a recording system used to master Super Audio CDs (SACDs).
Super Audio CD was introduced in 1999 as a successor of Compact Disc Audio. SACD was developed by Sony and Philips.
SACD disk capacity is 4,7GB and audio is encoded by 1-bit DSD, frequency 2.8224 MHz and contains 6-channel audio. Also can be protected with DRM.
It was declared as obsolete format in 2007. However, small market with DSD audio still exist.
