The TI-82 group file was used with Texas Instruments calculator-link software to collect several TI-82 files into one transfer package. This made it possible to send a set of programs or other calculator data to the calculator together.
The format belongs to the TI-82 calculator file family rather than to a general-purpose desktop application. Its contents are intended for use on a TI-82 and may include items created or stored on that calculator.
The TI-82 and its original linking software are legacy products. As a result, .82g files are mainly encountered when working with older TI-82 software or archived programs.
An .82g file is normally opened by transferring it to a Texas Instruments TI-82 with compatible TI calculator-link software and a suitable connection. It is not a conventional document for a desktop application.
After transfer, the TI-82 can access the grouped items as calculator data. Original TI-82 linking software may be required to work with this legacy format.
There is no useful general-purpose conversion for a TI-82 group file. Its purpose is to transfer a group of calculator items, not to represent a document in another format.
If the contents are needed separately, transfer the group to a compatible TI-82 and save or export the individual programs or variables with software that supports those files. Keep the original .82g file if the grouped transfer is still required.
