Adobe Photoshop is image-editing software from Adobe. The 8BFK file extension identifies a Photoshop for Mac plug-in or command file that extends the application's available functions.
An 8BFK file contains software components and command definitions for Photoshop. It is loaded as part of the application and is not intended to store an editable image, photograph, or other user document.
This format is associated with older Mac versions of Adobe Photoshop and is a legacy plug-in format.
An 8BFK file cannot normally be opened as a standalone document. It must be installed in the plug-ins location used by a compatible Mac version of Adobe Photoshop, after which Photoshop can load the commands or plug-in features it provides.
Compatibility depends on the Photoshop version and operating system.
An 8BFK file is a Photoshop plug-in component, not an image or document format, so it cannot be meaningfully converted to a standard image format.
To use its functionality in newer software, the plug-in must be replaced with a compatible version, if one exists. The original file can otherwise be retained for use with compatible Photoshop software.
