Apple Aperture was Apple's photo management and editing application for Mac OS X and macOS. It organized photo libraries and stored information about photographs, including editing adjustments and related metadata.
An .apertureedit file stores edit data used by Aperture. It works as part of the application's library data rather than as an independent document intended for general-purpose opening.
Aperture has been discontinued by Apple, so the format is no longer actively supported. Existing files can generally be used only with a compatible installation of Aperture and the library that created them.
Open the Aperture library containing the file with Apple Aperture on a compatible Mac OS X or macOS system. An individual .apertureedit file usually cannot be opened meaningfully on its own.
Because Aperture is discontinued, it may not run on current macOS versions. Keep the file in its original library structure and do not rename or move it separately.
The .apertureedit file itself is not normally converted as a standalone file. To create a usable image, open the corresponding Aperture library and export the edited photograph to a standard image format using Aperture.
This exports the photograph and its applied edits, rather than converting the internal edit-data file.
