Alpha Five, from Alpha Software, is a Windows development environment for building database-driven web applications. An A5W file represents a page used by an Alpha Five web application.
The file can contain HTML page content together with Xbasic and JavaScript code and references to web components. When the application runs, the Alpha Five Web Application Server processes the Xbasic and web components, generates the resulting HTML or JavaScript, and delivers the page to a web browser.
Open an .a5w file in the Alpha Five project that contains it, then use the application's web project or publishing tools to view or run the page.
An A5W file can also be inspected as source text, but a text editor will not execute its Xbasic or web components. The complete application requires the Alpha Five Web Application Server to produce the page in a browser.
There is no generally useful standalone conversion for an .a5w file. Its Xbasic code and Alpha Five web components depend on the surrounding Alpha Five web project.
