AA3 is a proprietary audio file format developed by Sony. It stores audio compressed with ATRAC, a technology designed for efficient storage on MiniDisc media and in Sony music applications.
The format was used by Sony SonicStage and can also be handled by Sony audio and video production software such as Sound Forge, Vegas Pro, and ACID Pro. These programs run on Microsoft Windows.
AA3 is now obsolete and is no longer actively used.
On Microsoft Windows, open the file with Sound Forge, Vegas Pro, ACID Pro, or Sony SonicStage. The AT3 to AA3 Converter can also work with this format.
Some AA3 files may be protected or may require software that supports the particular ATRAC variant used in the file.
Compatible AA3 audio can be opened in Sound Forge and exported to another audio format, including FLAC.
Conversion may not be possible for files protected by Sony's digital rights management or for files unsupported by the installed software.
