FreeBSD is an open-source Unix-like operating system. The .aer file association relates to files included with some FreeBSD installation packages.
The available information does not identify the contents or an independent purpose of these files. They should be considered package-associated files rather than a documented general-purpose document format.
A .aer file is not normally opened as a standalone document. If it came from a FreeBSD installation package, use the package's original installation or package-management tools to handle it.
Its meaning depends on the package in which it was supplied, so a general-purpose application may not be able to display it.
There is no established general-purpose conversion for the FreeBSD .aer file type. Because the file is associated with installation packages, converting it could make the package unusable.
Keep the file in its original form and use the corresponding FreeBSD package or installation process instead of exporting it to another format.
