The ARG file extension is associated with AutoCAD, Autodesk's computer-aided design software. An exported profile stores a user's AutoCAD configuration, such as workspace and other application settings.
AutoCAD can export a profile to an ARG file and import it on another computer. This makes the file useful for migrating a customized AutoCAD environment or restoring saved settings.
ARG profiles are primarily used by AutoCAD for Microsoft Windows. AutoCAD for Mac uses a separate settings system and does not normally use Windows ARG profiles.
Open an ARG file by importing it in AutoCAD for Windows. In the application's Options dialog box, use the Profiles tab and choose the option to import the profile, then select the ARG file.
AutoCAD for Mac does not normally open Windows ARG profiles directly; manage the corresponding settings within the Mac version instead.
An ARG file is a settings profile rather than a document format, so converting it to another file format is generally neither possible nor useful. To transfer the settings, import the file into AutoCAD for Windows.
