File extension av was used for the default document file type in version 1 of Final Draft AV (sometimes A/V) that was available as a separate product around the time of Final Draft 7.
It was alternative to the original specifically designed for the professional writers of commercials, corporate and training videos, documentaries, and presentations.
Document saved in this program used .av extension instead the .fdr used in Final Draft.
The final and last version of Final Draft AV switched to .xav files instead.
How to open av file?
Some versions of Final Draft might still open .av files, but such support no longer exists in the most recent version of the software (21 from 2021). But otherwise import to Final Draft was possible through the exchange FCF format.

Original software did support export to PDF or FCF format.
