Files with brfm extension are almost certainly embroidery outline files from a software called MacBroidery.

File extension brfm can be found on old embroidery outline files used in embroidery lettering software called MacBroidery from Pulse Microsystems. It does not seem to be available or supported anymore,
Files saved as the outline format contain both outline (vector graphic) information and stitch information. Designs saved in this format can be edited without compromising the quality of the stitches, because the stitch information is regenerated when segments are resized. Compared to stitches format, such as PES or DST that just contain stitches.
How to open brfm file?
Most likely can be only accessed in the original MacBroidery app.
How to convert brfm file?
Export to stitches format is possible with the original sofware.
