Bootstrap Studio project file containing editable responsive web designs, components, styles and assets
File type: Various data file
.bsdesign is the native project format used by Bootstrap Studio, a visual web design application for creating responsive websites with the Bootstrap framework. A project can contain page layouts, reusable components, CSS styling, JavaScript references, images and other design settings.
These files are intended to be opened and edited with Bootstrap Studio. They are project documents rather than finished web pages, so a web browser or general-purpose text editor cannot fully interpret them.

A .bsdesign project stores the editable structure of a Bootstrap Studio design, including pages, containers, navigation components, typography, layout properties, custom styles, linked resources and project-level configuration. It allows a design to be reopened and modified without rebuilding the interface from exported files.
Bootstrap Studio uses a proprietary project format whose internal organization may vary between application versions. Projects can include or reference local assets used by the design. Manually editing the file or simply renaming its extension is not a reliable way to convert or repair the project.
Bootstrap Studio is available for Windows, macOS and Linux. It is the primary compatible application for opening these projects, although compatibility with projects created by newer releases may depend on the installed version. Creating a backup before opening or updating an older project is recommended.
For a finished website, Bootstrap Studio can export the project as standard HTML, CSS, JavaScript and asset files. The exported files can be opened in a web browser, uploaded to a web server or edited with other web development tools, but changes to the exported output do not automatically update the original project.
Install Bootstrap Studio for Windows, macOS or Linux, then use the application's Open command to select the .bsdesign file. If the file type is associated with Bootstrap Studio, double-clicking it may open the project directly. If the project was created with a newer release, update Bootstrap Studio before opening it.
A browser, word processor or general-purpose text editor will not provide a usable view of the design. If the project does not open, verify that the file is complete, that its extension has not been changed, and try opening it from within Bootstrap Studio.
To convert a .bsdesign project into a usable website, open it in Bootstrap Studio and use the application's export or publish workflow. This produces standard HTML, CSS, JavaScript and asset files that can be viewed in a browser or deployed to a web server. This is an export rather than a direct format conversion and may not retain editor-specific project information.
There is no broadly supported online converter for the proprietary .bsdesign format. Desktop code editors and web development tools can work with the exported files, but they generally cannot convert them back into a fully editable Bootstrap Studio project. Keep the original project when continued editing in Bootstrap Studio may be required.
