The cerber2 file extension is associated with an older variant of the Cerber ransomware. Cerber 2 was Windows malware that encrypted the victim's personal files and renamed them with the .cerber2 suffix.
The affected files may originally have been documents, images, archives, or other data files. The suffix identifies the ransomware variant; it does not describe a separate usable file format. The encrypted data remains inaccessible until it is successfully decrypted.
