The cgi-sys designation is used for a folder that stores Common Gateway Interface scripts. It refers to a hosting directory rather than a standalone file format with defined contents.
The directory may contain individual CGI scripts used to provide dynamic web functionality. Its contents depend on the hosting configuration, so it is not normally opened or converted as a document.
A cgi-sys folder is not opened as a document. Access it through the hosting file manager, an FTP or SFTP client, or a server shell.
To inspect an individual script, open it as plain text in a text editor. Running it requires a web server configured to support CGI and the required script runtime.
A cgi-sys directory cannot be meaningfully converted because it is a server directory, not a document format. Preserve the directory and its scripts when moving a hosted site.
Individual CGI scripts can be rewritten for another server technology, but that is a code migration rather than file conversion.
