Blu-ray clip AV stream data
File type: Various data file
The clpi file extension identifies a Blu-ray clip information file. It stores metadata about a video clip's audiovisual stream, including stream attributes and timing information.
A clpi file is used with a corresponding Blu-ray stream file rather than as a standalone video file.

CLPI is part of the Blu-ray Disc video format. The files are stored in the BDMV/CLIPINF directory, which contains numbered clip information files.
Each clpi file corresponds to one stream file in the BDMV/STREAM directory. These stream files are usually mt2s. The CLPI file records attributes of the associated stream and timing data used for navigation and playback.
A matching CLPI file and stream file are commonly treated as a Blu-ray clip. The format remains in use in Blu-ray Disc video structures and is handled by compatible Blu-ray playback and authoring software.
A clpi file is a Blu-ray metadata file, not a video file intended for direct playback. It is normally read automatically by compatible Blu-ray players or Blu-ray authoring and analysis software together with the matching stream file and disc directory structure.
Opening the file by itself in a text editor or media player will not provide meaningful video playback.
A clpi file is not normally converted on its own. It contains navigation and stream metadata rather than the audiovisual content.
To change the video, use Blu-ray authoring or remuxing software on the associated stream files. Re-authoring the disc or rebuilding its Blu-ray structure creates matching CLPI metadata as needed.
