DummyLocker ransomware-affected file

File type: Ransomware encrypted file

A .dcrypt file is a user's file renamed and encrypted by DummyLocker ransomware. The file extension identifies an affected file, not a normal document format.

What is dCrypt file?

File type category:
Ransomware encrypted file

Date updated: October 7, 2026

DummyLocker ransomware encrypts files on affected systems and changes their names by adding the .dcrypt file extension. The resulting file contains encrypted data from the original file, so the extension does not identify the original file type.

.dcrypt files are ransomware-encrypted files rather than files created for use in a normal application. Like similar ransomware, DummyLocker demands ransom for recovery. There is no known decryptor currently available for this format, so the encrypted data cannot normally be accessed.

How to open dCrypt file?

A .dcrypt file cannot normally be opened with standard applications. It must first be decrypted with a working DummyLocker decryptor, and no such decryptor is currently known to be available.

How to convert dCrypt file?

A .dcrypt file cannot be meaningfully converted while its contents remain encrypted. Conversion is possible only after successful decryption, after which the recovered file can be opened or exported according to its original format.
